The Winter Guard is an auditioned competitive performing group during the Spring Semester that represents the North Cobb Band Program in local and regional sanctioned contests. Winter Guard is an indoor activity that takes place in a gymnasium or a covered arena that uses the same equipment used in the marching band season. The Winter Guard season is designed for guard members to continue mastering their equipment skills and learn a higher level of vocabulary of choreography. The Winter Guard season begins after the marching band season ends, which is usually mid-November and continues to the beginning of April.

Winter Guard ensembles commonly perform at judged competitions officiated by local and regional associations using criteria developed by Winter Guard International. There are currently two groups in the North Cobb High School Bands Winter Guard Program, Varsity and Cadet. Our groups compete on a local level with the SAPA (Southern Association for the Performance Arts) circuit and also on a regional level within WGI (Winter Guard International).

SUPPORT THE BAND

The North Cobb High School Band Booster organization includes a number of committees that help support the band program. Assistance with the committees is almost always needed, so we are constantly looking for more hands and minds to help out year-round, not just during marching season. Please feel free to contact us if you’d like to learn more or offer your support.
