80th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

New York, NY - 11/23/06

Four members of the North Cobb Warrior Marching Band enjoyed a once in a lifetime opportunity by participating in the 2006 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of the first Macy's Great American Marching Band. The Marching Warriors (Kevin Carvotta - Trumpet, Taylor Crawford - Trumpet, Keith Lunsford - Trombone, and Rebekah Reid - Mellophone) were part of a band whose 200 members represented each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Williams was also in New York on Thanksgiving, marching in the world-renowned parade as part of the band's Brass staff. Future Warrior Austin Williams also participated, carrying the banner as the band marched its way through Manhattan, past Central Park, down Broadway, and through Times Square before ending at Macy's flagship store on Herald Square.

As you can see, it poured down rain most of the day. The band got an early start, heading over to NBC studios at 4:30am to do some recordings. Afterwards, they headed to breakfast at the Hard Rock Café and then stood in the rain near Central Park until the parade began. The band had to march at a pretty fast pace in order to be in front of Macy's at exactly the right time to be on TV with the NBC hosts. In spite of the rain, the band member's spirits were not dampened, and they all had a wonderful time.
